Driving Disrupted

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, 3,142 lives were lost in road incidents during 2019 due to being distracted from driving. They also found that a vast majority of these incidents were caused by the driver sending a text or reading one.

In fact, the NHTSA found that it actually takes 4.6 seconds to glance at a text message while driving. That is the equivalent of driving the entire length of the field at Allegiant Stadium at 55 MPH – with your eyes closed.

Distracted Driving, or as Lexus calls it “Driving Disrupted,” is something we need to take seriously. If you’re not convinced, please watch this video…

Here, Lexus demonstrates what happens when you take your eyes off the road while sending a text while driving. A specially modified Lexus, called the NX 4.6, was used to show exactly the result of distracted driving. They simulate that effect of keeping your eyes off the road through a filter on the windshield that is deployed at 4.6 seconds.

The result as you can imagine is pure chaos. In other words, a collision between you and the vehicle in front of you.

Granted, the driver assistance systems on board your Lexus will not save a distracted driver when they are engaged with texting or other activities while driving. Consider checking out our Lexus that are equipped with smartphone integration for your Apple or Android device. As equipped, you can hear your text read back to you without actually reading it from your device. To reply, use the voice recognition button to do so.

Contact us at Lexus of Las Vegas for a demonstration of these systems designed to keep you on the road for life. We want you here today, tomorrow, as long as you own your Lexus.
