Lexus Was Off-Road-Ready at SEMA 2023
SEMA wrapped up recently, bringing automakers, the aftermarket, and enthusiasts of all stripes together in one place. Lexus had a significant presence at the show, bringing six vehicles, including the GX, LX, and more. The brand leaned on aftermarket components to transform its luxurious off-roaders into beefy, go-anywhere monsters, so let’s take a look at everything Lexus brought to SEMA 2023.
2022 Lexus GX 460 Premium AAP Build
Lexus brought a matte yellow-wrapped 2022 GX equipped with 23-inch all-terrain tires on 18-inch wheels. Its 301-horsepower 4.6-liter V8 was unchanged, but the SUV got rock sliders and a full skid plate for protection off-road. Lexus equipped this GX with a load of overlanding gear, including a hammock stand mounted to a Prinsu Roof Rack. It carries a 10-foot Kammok double hammock, and inside, the SUV has an ARB fridge and freezer. Other upgrades include an ARB 12-volt air compressor, a Weekender Recovery Kit, and TRED Pro recovery boards.
2022 Lexus LX 600 Premium AAP Build
The LX is Lexus’ flagship SUV, representing the pinnacle of its luxury capabilities. Even so, the plush family hauler has legitimate off-road capability, and Lexus took full advantage of them for its SEMA build. The SUV kept its new twin-turbo 3.5-liter V6 engine and upgraded 18-inch wheels wrapped in 33-inch all-terrain tires. Of course, the LX already had plenty of off-road gear, including crawl control, downhill assist, a terrain camera system, and multi-terrain drive modes. Lexus has a Kammock awning for outdoor sun and rain protection, and a Yakima camp kitchen turns the rig into a rolling gourmet prep station. The LX also got a Yakima SupDawg rooftop mount for a paddleboard and surfboard.
2024 Lexus GX 550 Overtail+ AAP Build
The GX got a complete overhaul for 2024 and Lexus brought one of the freshest trims of the brand-new SUV to SEMA. The new Overtrail trim brings more rugged capability and styling to the GX. For the show, the automaker built on that with upgraded wheels and tires, Lexus-branded rock rails, an onboard tire air compressor, and a Pelican cargo case. There’s also a Prinsu ladder for easier roof access and accessory window panels with additional gear mounts.
Owner Builds
Lexus also brought three customer SUVs, including a 2008 and 2009 GX 470 and a 2010 GX 460.
