Lexus Racing Takes The Podium in Final Race of 2021

The stage was set for the Motul Petit Le Mans – the final race of the IMSA WeatherTech Sports Car Championship season.
This season has returned the Petit Le Mans back to its scheduled position. The 2.54-mile, 12 corner course makes for a challenge over 10 hours of racing. Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta is also the headquarters of IMSA. This is the perfect place to wrap up a racing season.
The Vasser Sullivan Lexus Racing team arrived at Road Atlanta with a mission to play spoiler. To get on the podium of the GTD class is to prevent a leading team to take the class championship.
The number 14 Lexus RC F GT3 of Jack Hawksworth and Adam Telitz added Kyle Kirkwood to its roster for Road Atlanta. While the number 12 car of Zach Veach and Frankie Montecalvo added Robert Megennis for the finale.
Both RC F GT3s started off well. The number 12 car found itself in the top 5 of the class through the halfway mark. They maintained the class top 5 well into the night.
However, the 14 car’s finish would not be as stunning. After 146 laps, Telitz, Hawksworth, and Kirkwood would be sidelined for the rest of the race. Not the finish they hoped for.

When the final checkered glad of the 2021 season dropped, Teliz, Montecalvo, and Megennis finished third and stood on the podium. Given how the season went down for the Vasser Sullivan Lexus Racing team, this was the best way to end this season.
