2022 Lexus RC F GT3 GTD PRO IMSA Vasser Sullivan

It’s Time for a Change

A new IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship season looms for the Lexus Racing Vasser Sullivan team. But, not without a twist.

Our plot twist will see the team field entries in two classes, instead of one. The GT Daytona class continues to see the Number 12 RC F GT3 with drivers to be announced soon.

The big news is that the Number 14 car will step into the newly formed GT Daytona Pro class. That team will have Ben Barnicoat, Jack Hawksworth, and Kyle Kirkwood behind the wheel in the more competitive class.

For the upcoming season, it will be Hawksworth and Barnicoat taking the wheel of Number 14. Kirkwood will come in when three drivers are needed. In particular, the upcoming Rolex 24 at Daytona. Kirkwood will run in the NTT INDYCAR Championship circuit, as well.

Barnicoat’s resume took him around the world with endurance experience – something that will help the Lexus Racing Vasser Sullivan team. He has raced in the GT World Challenge Europe with success. He has also run the Bathurst 12 Hour race in Australia back in 2020.

Hawksworth now takes the place as the senior driver in the RC F GT3. His experience behind the wheel will also help the team gain a footing in the more competitive class.

The 2022 season will mark the fourth year Lexus and Vasser Sullivan have partnered together. During that time, the Lexus RC F GT3 has earned seven GTD class wins, 18 podium placings and nine pole positions.

The Vasser Sullivan Lexus RC F GT3 entries return to the track in the Roar Before the Rolex 24 at Daytona International Speedway on January 21-23. You can catch the event on both IMSA TV and the Peacock streaming service. The next weekend will be the 2022 Rolex 24 at Daytona on January 29-30, which will also be broadcasted on Peacock and IMSA TV.
