Lexus Expands the IS Sport Sedan Lineup

The Lexus IS was born at a time when the compact sport sedan was one of the most aspirational vehicle genres in the industry. The BMW 3-series seemed to be a king of the hill that no one could knock off. But many automotive journalists thought the first IS did just that and was more fun to drive than the almighty BMW 3. Since then, there have been changes in the automotive market. Most automakers, including Lexus, offer and sell more crossovers than sedans now. But Lexus has never lost sight of the IS’s mission. After all, maybe one car in the household should be a versatile cargo carrier, but do you need two? Couldn’t the second car just be something that can carry people comfortably in the front and back seats but also be fun to drive? Lexus thinks the answer is yes, and is proving it by offering more variants of the IS than ever before. Let Lexus of Las Vegas give you a brief rundown on the 2024 IS model line.

The many versions of the IS reflect the many ways people want to enjoy their sports sedan. This can range from a practical and comfortable ride that looks great and feels good to drive to a performance monster that rattles your psyche with the roar of a naturally aspirated V8. 

IS 300

Lexus is expanding the F SPORT and F SPORT Design packages to the IS 300 lineup. As the name implies, the 2024 IS 300 F SPORT Design package is all about aesthetics with 19-inch F SPORT alloy wheels, emblems, and other visual details. The F Sport package enhances the interior with heated and ventilated front seats, aluminum pedal caps, and an F SPORT-branded heated steering wheel. Like other IS models, these are available in pure sport sedan fashion with rear-wheel-drive, powered by a 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-4 engine that produces 241 hp and 258 lb-ft of torque. Or they can opt for the traction maximization aspects of an all-wheel-drive engine, powered by a 3.5-liter V6 producing 260 hp and 236 lb-ft of torque.

IS 350

All 2024 IS 350 models will be either F Sport or F Sport Design models. Their feature complement is largely the same as in the IS 300 models, with some exterior color changes, and both RWD and AWD versions are powered by a 3.5-liter V6 with power bumped up to 311 horsepower and 280 lb-ft of torque. Exclusively available on the IS 350 F Sport model is the all-new Blackout Package. Available with the Handling Package, this special option includes 19-inch Matte Black BBB® forged alloy wheels, black outside mirrors with dark chrome trim, dark chrome window trim, and Lexus Memory Package controlling the driver’s seat, outside mirrors, and steering wheel.

IS 500

For the “more power” sport sedan fans, there are the IS 500 F SPORT models, which is a modern take on the old muscle car tradition of incorporating a high-performance V8 in a relatively compact car. The newest version of the IS 500 model is the F SPORT Performance model with 472 horsepower and 395 lb-ft of torque. All IS 500 models offer the class-exclusive experience of the linear throttle response of a naturally aspirated engine and the primal roar of a high-performance V8 at full throttle. One other difference is that the IS 500 models are available with a limited Special Appearance Package, which includes exclusive Blue Vector exterior paint, 19-inch matte black BBS forged alloys, blue interior stitching, and a SmartAccess Key Card. The 2024 IS F Sport Performance Premium Special Appearance is truly unique, as only 150 units will be available in North America.

Overall, there are ten different versions of the Lexus IS. High performance, luxury you can only experience in a Lexus. The IS is comfortable, high quality, and offers all the latest technology. All models come standard with Lexus Safety System+ 2.5 suite of safety and driver assist features and can be upgraded to include navigation or the amazing Mark Levinson audio system.
