Lexus Adds the RZ 450e To New Electrified Strategy

Imagine Las Vegas As a Carbon-Neutral City
It’s not far from reality. By 2030, Lexus will offer a lineup that will include battery-electric vehicles, fuel-cell electric vehicles, and plug-in hybrids. It has already started with the new 2022 NX 450h+ plug-in hybrid.
The next step is to introduce a line of battery-electric vehicles. That will begin with the introduction of the RZ 450e. This will be the first-ever fully electric vehicle sold by Lexus. It will be built on a specific architecture that will combine not only battery-electric propulsion, but with the brand’s mix of safety, security, convenience, technology, and luxury.
The RZ 450e is part of a strategy instituted by Toyota and Lexus as a combined company. This strategy includes these targets:
- By 2030, global sales of battery electric vehicles (BEVs) will reach 3.5 million vehicles annually.
- By 2030, the company will offer 30 BEV models across the Toyota and Lexus brands, globally, with more on the way.
With this expanded global BEV lineup, Lexus will offer BEVs in all segments, including sedans, SUVs, and a possible sports car.

To reach these targets, Toyota and Lexus plan to invest approximately $70 billion globally in electrified vehicles including HEVs, PHEVs, FCEVs and BEVs. Of that amount, approximately $35 billion will be invested in BEVs starting in 2022 through 2030.
Lexus has been the industry leader in electrified vehicles for almost two decades. You may have owned one of the early models, such as the HS 250h and CT 200h. Today, our electrified lineup is seen through efficient hybrid models, including the UX 250h, RX 450h, ES 300h, LC 500h Coupe, and LS 500h flagship sedan.
By 2030, Lexus will present a full lineup of BEVs in all vehicle segments, and to have BEVs account for 100% of vehicle sales in our country. Lexus buyers will have access to a wide range of vehicles dedicated to battery electrics that offer safety, security and signature Lexus styling.
