Level 3 is the last method, also known as DC fast charging. You’ll find these chargers at public charging stations and can give you a quick charge in a short amount of time.

If you’re content with slow charging, you can stick with Level 1 charging. Simply find the right location, like in your garage or driveway, and plug in your EV in an area with low foot traffic. You can also opt to install a wall-mounted Level 1 charger in a convenient location for less hassle with a charging cord. Most drivers require faster charging and more power, though, and that’s when it’s time to install a Level 2 charger. This installation isn’t a DIY operation, so it will cost you. Start by finding a reputable electrician who can assess your home’s electrical system and test if your current setup is adequate to support a Level 2 charger.
