The verdict is in: Lexus is (still) the most dependable brand, according to J.D. Power
The results of the J.D. Power 2019 U.S. Vehicle Dependability Study (VDS) were recently released, and once again, Lexus was rated the highest in overall vehicle dependability. This is the eighth consecutive year that Lexus tops the list.
Additionally, two Lexus models were awarded the top honor in their respective segments. The Lexus ES received the award for most dependable Compact Premium Car, and the Lexus GX was the top rated Midsize Premium SUV.
Now in its 30th year, this study measures the number of problems experienced per 100 vehicles (PP100) during the past 12 months by original owners of three-year-old model-year vehicles. This year's study was conducted from October-December 2018, and was based on responses from 32,952 original owners of 12016 model-year vehicles after three years of ownership.
The study covers 177 specific problems grouped into eight major vehicle categories:
The Driving Experience
A lower score reflects higher quality. Lexus' overall dependability score was 106 PP100, meaning that for every 100 Lexus models, there were only 106 problems reported.
So what does this mean for Lexus owners? It means a higher satisfaction overall with your vehicle, whether you buy new or pre-owned, and it also means your Lexus will have a a higher resale value if/when you decide to trade it in for a newer model.
