The Lexus LC500 Convertible has an iconic and evocative design and is considered one of the most beautiful cars on the road today, and it’s one of the most beautiful droptop sports cars ever designed. It also has a glorious sound from its 5.0-liter V8, which sounds even more incredible when the convertible soft top is down.

Speaking of the top, you can put it down while going up to 31 mph.

What’s New?

For 2024, Lexus have updated the LC500 Convertible models with a new infotainment interface and 12.3-inch touchscreen, as well as two new exterior colors, Ultrasonic Blue Mica 2.0 and Copper Crest, along with a new Rioja Red interior color. The Convertible model will also come standard with the same 21” wheel that comes on the LC500h coupe.

Custom Ordering Your LC500

For the first time on the LC Convertible, you will now be able to customize your vehicle during the ordering process with Bespoke Build, previously only available for the coupe LC500s. Various customization options include all-black 21” wheels, dark chrome trim, a carbon fiber scuff plate, a neck heater, and a special white and blue interior that can be had for $1,900. If you do decide to order a Bespoke Build LC500, you will get a badge on the interior showcasing that it was custom ordered, and a certificate of authenticity printed on Japanese washi paper that is signed and stamped by the chief engineer of the LC cars, Yasushi Muto, along with Vinay Shahani, the Vice President of Lexus Marketing.

Engine and Suspension

As I mentioned before, the 2024 Lexus LC500 gets by with a wonderful 5.0-liter V8 that makes 471 horsepower and 398 lb-ft of torque while being paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission with magnesium shift paddles behind the steering wheel. 

Lexus have worked very hard to make sure the LC500 Convertible isn’t a slouch with the roof chopped off, so the suspension has been specifically developed and tuned for the Convertible so as not to sacrifice ride comfort or sporty driving characteristics that can easily be felt on the coupe. This means rear performance dampers are now standard on the Convertible, and the Adaptive Variable Suspension (AVS) has been tweaked to aid in the droptop’s driving dynamics to more closely match those of the coupe. Thanks to the AVS, the LC500 Convertible’s suspension is able to adjust the suspension up to 650 different ways depending on the road surface and conditions.

Premium Lexus Safety

 Standard for 2024 is the Lexus Safety System+ 2.5, which features a slew of safety features that aid the driver at all times. These include Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection, which amazingly works from speeds of 7 mph up to 110 mph, not that we recommend doing that. Acting with PCS is Risk Avoidance Emergency Steer Assist and Left Turn Oncoming Vehicle Detection with Automatic Braking. More features include All-Speed Radar Cruise 

Control (DRCC), Road Sign Assist (RSA), Lane Departure Warning with Steering Assist (LDA w/SA, and Lane Tracing Assist (LTA), which helps to keep the vehicle centered in the lane when the DRCC is active.
