ASK  OUR  LEXPERT!

James Peters is our in-house product specialist.  He expertly demonstrates and instructs our Lexus guests in the operation of vehicle features, and answers questions of all types for Lexus vehicle owners.

Here's a few of the questions we most frequently receive:

Q - Can I play my ipod through the audio system?

A - Current 2010 Lexus year model vehicles (except SC430) are equipped with an Auxiliary port for audio devices. The 2010 models USB connection can be used for audio devices or even a thumb drive with stored music. If you have an earlier year model, ask the dealership about the iPod interface kit that allows you to control music on your iPod using the vehicle control buttons.

Q - Can I roll down the windows on my vehicle before I get in?

A - Yes, you can. If you press and hold the unlock button on your remote key or fob, the windows will roll down and the moon roof will slide open. This operation can be deactivated, ask at the service department on your next visit.

Q - How do I update the navigation system?

A - The navigation in your Lexus vehicle is either a DVD or Hard drive based system. DVD systems are updated by replacing the DVD disc with a new disc that provides more recent map information. The hard drive based systems must be updated using equipment located at the dealership. Navigation updates, released once a year, are normally in stock in the parts department.

Q - I want to get a Bluetooth enabled phone to use in my new car.  Which is the best one?

A - There are many different phones available now, and each provider has several different models.  Lexus has tested certain models and determined their compatibility.  If you would like to view the recommended phones, visit our Product Specialist or click here to log on the Lexus Bluetooth website.

Q - My Lexus displays "Key not Detected" and won't start. How can I start the vehicle?

A - The Smart Key is battery powered. A weak or dead battery does not transmit the signal for the vehicle to start. To start the vehicle, depress the brake pedal and use the key to push the start button. You may purchase a new battery from our Parts Boutique and they will install it for you.

Q – What is done to my vehicle during a service visit?

A - Scheduled maintenance for your vehicle is every 5000 miles or six months (whichever comes first). It is recommended your vehicle to be inspected at least twice a year, before hot summer weather and before cold winter weather. Scheduled maintenance can also be called “preventative maintenance”. Minor service and repairs can prevent major repairs and major costs. Your warranty and maintenance booklet provides a list of items that will be inspected, adjusted, and replaced.
Q - Where can I get my vehicle serviced?
A - It is recommended that your vehicle be serviced by Lexus Technicians. Lexus Technicians receive continuous training and must pass exams to maintain Lexus Commitment to Perfection training certification. The Lexus National Service History database allows dealership service departments to track services performed and services that are recommended.

Q - Can the vehicle be started before I get in?
A - Some 2010 vehicles can be accessorized with the Lexus Remote Starter Kit. It will allow the vehicle to be started so that it may cool down or warm the interior and engine. Please contact our Service department to check if it is available for your vehicle.

Q - How can I receive XM Satellite radio?

A - 2010 Lexus vehicles (except SC430) come equipped with XM Satellite service (90 day free trial). Earlier models may have the capability for Satellite radio but must have the tuner installed to receive service. Please call the dealership to inquire about availability for your vehicle.
